A man initials DL (27) in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, was arrested after paying a commercial sex worker (PSK) using counterfeit money. From the hands of the perpetrators, the police confiscated evidence of counterfeit money as much as Rp37.5 million.
“From the DL perpetrators, evidence of counterfeit money of IDR 37.5 million was found in the form of denominations of IDR 100 thousand,” said Mamuju Police Chief, Kombes Iskandar in a written statement, Wednesday (22/5).
Iskandar explained that the perpetrators spread the counterfeit money in Mamuju and Polewali Mandar (Polman) regencies.
“Because the case of using counterfeit money concerns two areas, namely Polman and Mamuju, so we will delegate the next handling to the investigators of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Sulbar,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mamuju Police Public Relations Officer, Ipda Herman Basir explained that this case came to light after there was a report from a woman at Mamuju Police Station after getting a dating order through an online application.
“The perpetrator came to the complainant’s boarding house after there was a price agreement. The perpetrator gave Rp1.5 million to the complainant,” Herman said.
After receiving the money, Herman said, the complainant then shopped at a convenience store by telling her sister. However, when going to pay, it turned out that the money was fake.
“His sister said that the money was counterfeit. The complainant then checked again and it turned out to be fake money,” he explained.
