KPK Searches Telkom Office to Find Evidence of Fictitious Project Cases

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched a number of places in Jakarta and Tangerang, including the Telkom Office to look for evidence of cases of alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services indicated to be fictitious.

The searches were conducted from April to May 2024.

“Covering 6 residential houses and 4 offices including the Telkom Hub Area, Telkom Landmark Tower Building, Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto Kav 52, West Kuningan, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, and MT Haryono Tower, South Jakarta,” said Head of KPK News Section Ali Fikri through a written statement, Wednesday (22/5).

The spokesperson for the prosecutor background said that the investigation team found and secured evidence, including documents and electronic devices allegedly used to commit unlawful acts.

“Further analysis is carried out to then confirm with witnesses, suspects including experts in order to complete the investigation case file,” Ali said.

The KPK said it was investigating a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services at PT Telkom Group.

Ali said the procurement of goods and services at Telkom Group was indicated to be fictitious. According to him, the project costs the state budget hundreds of billions of rupiah.

Ali said that his party would announce in full the parties determined as suspects, the construction of the case and what articles were suspected when the Investigation Team assessed that the evidence had been sufficient.

Prior to this, the KPK was also investigating a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services at PT Sigma Cipta Caraka, a subsidiary of Telkom. There are already suspects in that case.

Telkom’s Response

PT Telkom through Vice President of Corporate Communication Andri Herawan Sasoko expressed respect and support for the ongoing law enforcement process at the KPK. He said the investigation was a follow-up to management’s findings from the results of internal audits that had been carried out by the company.

“Telkom management is committed to upholding transparency and being cooperative in the ongoing legal process as an implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and a form of SOE clean-up program,” Andri said when contacted.

“The legal process that has been running to date has not interfered with business operations and company performance,” he said.
