Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Dewas KPK) Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean was emotional responding to the current KPK leadership period.
According to him, the 2019-2024 KPK period is very uncomfortable.
“Indeed, frankly I said, I have been in the KPK for a long time, this is the most uncomfortable. These are events that now, the current period, are not very pleasant,” Tumpak said in a press conference session regarding the postponement of the reading of the decision of the code of conduct hearing of KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron on Tuesday (21/5) evening.
Tumpak said this referred to the many ethical reports of KPK personnel, including the leadership. This includes reports including criminal charges involving fellow KPK personnel.
“I’m the first KPK person, I can honestly say it’s not fun. For so many years we have worked in the KPK, if indeed I was called by the police, that was the first time I was heard by the police,” he said.
On that occasion, Tumpak admitted that he was surprised by Ghufron’s action in reporting KPK Dewas members to the Police Bareskrim. The reason is, according to him, the KPK Dewas only carries out work as mandated by law.
“We don’t yet know what it contains, what it reports. What is said to be defamatory? What does abuse of authority say? All I know is that Dewas carries out his duties imposed by law,” said Tumpak.
The KPK dewas was forced to postpone the hearing on the reading of Nurul Ghufron’s code of conduct verdict which was supposed to be scheduled for today.
The postponement followed the order of the panel of judges of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) in an interlocutory decision read yesterday, Monday (20/5).
