The number two presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, expressed his appreciation for the congratulatory letter he received from Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas. The congratulations expressed in the letter were sent through the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta.
“It is an honor for me to receive congratulations on the interim results of the election from the President of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas,” he said in a written statement on Friday (8/3).
He also uploaded the letter on X @prabowo account on Thursday (7/3). In his post, Prabowo stated that the Indonesian people have always supported Palestine, especially during difficult times.
“And will continue to support the struggle of the Palestinian people to achieve the peace and independence they aspire to.”
For information, in the letter Mahmoud congratulated Prabowo as the president elected by the Indonesian people and wished Prabowo success in the future.
“We pray to Allah Almighty for your success and prosperity in fulfilling the noble task entrusted to you, and to achieve the ideals and goals of your people,” he said.
He also said that Indonesia and Palestine are bound by strong historical fraternal relations. Therefore, he is committed to working with Prabowo in the context of further development and increased cooperation and coordination, which will open up new opportunities for both parties.
Mahmoud also revealed that the Palestinian government highly appreciates Indonesia’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its people.
“Please accept our warmest wishes for your health and happiness and for continued progress and prosperity for Indonesia and its greater society.”
